We all know gloves and mittens. But what is the difference between them?
Mittens vs gloves
A glove is a garment covering the whole hand. Gloves usually have separate sheaths or openings for each finger and the thumb.
Gloves, which cover the entire hand or fist but do not have separate finger openings or sheaths are called mittens. Mittens are warmer than other styles of gloves made of the same material because fingers maintain their warmth better when they are in contact with each other; reduced surface area reduces heat loss.
Of course, they can be made of different materials, what we can find in the market, are like leather, wool or nylon etc. You may need to think about how to wear suitable gloves for different occasions.
For example, if just to wear them to prevent the coldness in the wintertime, you could wear either of them. Also, it depends on the lining material. After all, mittens contain less space for each finger so the four fingers can stay together.
If you would like to wear it for ski, gloves seem more flexible with more mobility and movement than mittens.
